 Saints. Sinners. Seekers. Skeptics.

All Are Welcome.

We gratefully acknowledge that we live, work, and worship on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

In response to Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation’s Call to Action Number 49, we repudiate the Doctrine of Discovery used to justify sovereignty of European nations over Indigenous lands and peoples. For more, click this link from United Church of Canada, whose views on this reflect ours.

HOW TO READ THE BIBLE | VEV teaching series

This topic was in the "top five" of requested topics in our summer survey, and for good reason! The Bible, more than any other book, has had immeasurable impact on our world for good and is by far the best seller of all time with over 5 billion copies sold.

Yet, as we well know, the Bible has received many “mixed reviews.” It has been used to justify all manner of evil actions that have caused human suffering! Problem texts can make the Bible (and God) hard to digest. The Bible as literature can be unwieldy and intimidating to approach.

Many of us love the Bible, yet, are feeling the tension over these “mixed reviews.” We are asking questions like, “what do I really believe about the Bible?” and in light of that, “what place do I give the Bible in my life?” For those who are new, “where do I even start?”

In our endeavor to follow Jesus, the Bible continues to be the “air we breath” in shaping who we are as a community. Rightly interpreted, it guides our values and our practices; it provides the primary source material for understanding the story we are in, and gives wisdom for continuing to live in that story.

Join with us as together as we dive into the question: How can we navigate the  complexity that comes with the Bible and meaningfully engage with it as a community in ways that help us become more human, staying in the right story as followers of Jesus?

Because we are so diverse in learning styles, we want this to be a communal exercise, sharing resources with each other that can help us with this question. Come ready to engage. Bring your questions and come ready to share. To prepare, take some time to reflect on these questions:

  • What is your view of Bible? How does it impact your life?

  • What issues/concerns/aversions do you hold?

  • What resources can you share with others that have helped you in reading and interpreting the Bible?

Kids Church

We are committed to making a safe place for children of all abilities to engage and learn about the love of God while participating in fun activities. In this current season, we have KIDS Church twice a month during the Sunday teaching time (for kids 12 and under). Kids Church is usually on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month while for other Sundays, we have gatherings that everyone can engage in together such as community brunches and group activities. Please check the Join Us section above to know what’s happening for the upcoming Sunday.

We also have a private nursery area where parents can listen to the service while caring for their pre-kindergarten children.
