CALL FOR VEV LEADERSHIP TEAM NOMINATIONS
Dear VEV Church family,
This week, Matt Good submitted his resignation from our church board of directors and we are supremely grateful for the immense contribution Matt has made in this season of our church life. He particularly carried a heavy load with regard to our building lease and other related matters. We will deeply miss his involvement on the board and in leadership, and we want to honour his contribution in an upcoming congregational gathering. Please join me in giving thanks for Matt and be praying for him and his family in this season.
With Matt’s resignation, and Nathan and Kate’s move, we need to add some new leadership team and directors on or before our next Annual General Meeting, held in June. This is not an election by vote, but a process of co-discerning with our leadership team and congregation. Our leadership team is already considering some candidates, and we highly value your prayerful and thoughtful input. Currently, our leadership team is Wade and Joanna Pallister, Elaine Braun (director), Kathleen Lagore, Karen Chu (director), Sandra Cosby, and our staff, Tae and myself.
We are looking for qualities of a demonstrated love and commitment to Jesus, his church, and his mission to make all things right. While no one is perfect, candidates will demonstrate growing Christlikeness. In the words of the apostles, they will be filled with the Holy Spirit and demonstrate a good balance of faith with practical wisdom. Other important qualities include:
A heart of worship and faithful attendance at VEV corporate gatherings.
A good understanding of Vineyard and our VEV story, values, and ethos.
A demonstrated love and care for people, especially the marginalized.
Emotional and relational maturity and health.
Fidelity in family life and relationships.
Good boundaries and self-care.
Generosity in giving including tithing to the church.
Good skills that can serve the oversight of VEV (examples could be heart for children
and youth, administration, facility care, finances, pastoral care, small group leading). Please note, a variety of gifts are needed.
With these in mind, we also value representation, for example, singles, women, visible minorities. If you would like to nominate someone, please email vev@telus.net or any of our leadership team with a short rationale, on or before May 31st. If you sense the Spirit stirring you to such a task, have a trusted friend send a nomination on your behalf with their rationale. All nominations will be prayerfully considered by our leadership team. We want to commission our new leaders at an upcoming congregational meeting by the end of June. Most of all, please be praying for God’s blessing and leading on this process.
