A Race To Finish by Kathleen Lagore (April 2020)

I reach to take hold

Of the race set before me,

Desiring to run wholeheartedly

As one who is training vigorously,

In order to compete

And complete the goal

Of a meaningful life

And a loving existence.

In this race,

There is a guarantor,

Of the best promise,

One who is able,

To love me entirely

Because he has totally

Been set apart

To make provisions for me

His offer comes again and again.

It is sure, and it endures.

Today his invitation is only

A shadow  of the tomorrows to come.

As I run in a new and living way.

May I persevere in this pilgrimmage

Of reaching and running while

Pacing my journey’s course,

So I can sprint down to the finish line.
